About the Social Democratic Party

The Social Democratic Party's central development proposition is that Papua New Guinea can achieve economic growth and social progress at the same time.

The SDP therefore seeks to build a country where: Strong institutions + economic growth + social justice + quality public services + democratic accountability = a prosperous and inclusive Papua New Guinea. Under Hon. Powes Parkop's leadership, the party can present itself as a movement for institutional renewal, economic opportunity, social inclusion and responsible democratic leadership.

The ultimate objective is a Papua New Guinea in which citizens have greater access to jobs, education, healthcare, infrastructure, justice and economic opportunity, while government institutions are capable, accountable and trusted by the people.

The Social Democratic Party's agenda should therefore be presented not simply as a political platform, but as a long-term national development program focused on building capable institutions, creating economic opportunities, investing in people and securing a stable and democratic future for Papua New Guinea.
